Friday Night Makeup!

After a long week of work and a less than optimal sleep schedule I am ready for a couple days off! My plans for the weekend: have a couple cocktails, enjoy the sunshine, and sleep in at least once! To change it up a bit I thought it would be fun to do a post about my easy makeup routine for a fun night out. My day to day makeup is similar but I rarely wear eyeshadow or heavy eyeliner. To be honest, it was a little scary to take photos without any make up on. This week has definitely darkened the circles under my eyes!

Before Makeup: 

 MAC Pro Longwear NW 25 Concealer leaves my skin begging for some bronzer :)

First Bronzer. Then brows and eyeliner.  I color my brows with a brunette creamy brow pencil and my favorite eyeliner is the Revlon Color Stay Liquid Eye Pen.

MAC MULCH eyeshadow works as a great smoky eyeliner.

Because Im headed out to meet some girlfriends, a little dark brown eye shadow in the crease is definitely appropriate. I use MAC WEDGE and then add some shimmer.

I am extremely picky about my Mascara. After trying everything, I finally found the perfect one: Voluminous False Fiber Lashes by L'Oreal. Honestly, try it.

Add a little lipstick and I am ready!

This routine literally take me less than a couple minutes and it really works!

I have to admit the drizzly, rainy, grey weather in Portland is getting to me! I am sick of wearing tights  and miss my favorite spring clothes that are buried in my closet. We are headed on a family vacation to Mexico in a few weeks and I am already counting down the days. I can't wait to be warm. This week I picked a bright top to cheer me up, and paired it with one of my go to black skirts.The skirt is from ModCloth and I absolutely adore it. It is girly and practical.

Just as I am getting tired of the gray winters in Portland, March arrives and gives me hope for spring. I will surely miss chunky sweaters and boots but, I can't wait for the ability to easily throw on a lacy blouse and go. This outfit is my grab and go outfit for the colder months. First, leggings, a long sleeve, and some fabulous boots. Next, your oversized sweater of choice.

Outfit: Valentine's Date Night

 Whether you are going out with friends or having a date night with your honey, Valentines day is the night to wear pink or red! This Valentines day, my girl friends and I decided it would be fun to get together regardless of our relationship status'. To dress for the occasion I found an adorable pink satin dress to wear out! Paired with some black heels and a simple necklace I have the perfect outfit for a fun night.

It has been oddly warm in Portland  this week! Flower bulbs are sprouting, birds are chirping, and I even left the house today without a coat on. For my Workday Wednesday outfit this week I chose an outfit that could be worn in this warm weather or paired with a blazer when the weather is forty degrees and rainy! 

I can't seem to get away from my black pencil skirt! It is so versatile and practical. Now I just need to work on my tan and I will be all set for spring.  Do you have an item in your wardrobe that is your go to piece?

Packing for an exciting vacation can be as stressful as missing a connecting flight if you fail to use color schemes. To improve the versatility of your looks it is important to find items that go with more than one other piece in your suitcase. A trip to the Sin City in the middle of January warranted one color scheme: Black.

Thrifting is the theme for today's Workday Wednesday!  I recently got this skirt at my local Goodwill, such a fun find and a perfect skirt for a Wednesday outfit. I love how the skirt has lots of different colors, so you have a variety of options when accessorizing. I added a chunky red and gold necklace from To Zion, my favorite jewelry store in Joseph, Oregon, as well as a thrifted red Pendleton coat.

Do you have a favorite place to go thrift shopping?  I love my local Goodwill Super Center, it is a great place to spend a Saturday afternoon and I always find that if I am patient and take my time I can find some true gems hidden in the racks.

Start with the basics! A simple black pencil skirt and sweater is an easy neutral base for any work outfit. Then, add some colorful accessories. Having a different scarf or necklace for everyday of the week is much less expensive then a different pencil skirt. Adding textured tights and fun boots also adds dimension to the outfit. The scarf was a gift from my California best friend, and definitely cheers me up on the rainy Oregon days.

 

Honesty, I wear some combination of a black pencil skirt and a colorful piece at least twice a week. My basic black sweater is a go to as well. What items in your work wardrobe are essentials?

Want the perfect New years outfit without splurging on a head-to-toe bedazzled gown? You may have the perfect look already hanging in your closet. All you need is the help of a couple important accessories. Contrary to popular belief, you can wear a dress more than once. Actually, you should pride yourself on your ability to re-wear core pieces over and over again.

New Years Party Essentials:
Sparkle or metallic (I bet you could have guessed that one)
Tights or long pants (Its December and/or January alright!)

Don't be scared to wear brown with black. The proper shades DO go together. Sometimes pairing black boots, a black dress, and black tights, can turn your outfit darker than you were initially envisioning.
